Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Lantern & Ledger publishing tool (the “App”) — a small in-house application operated by Lantern & Ledger (“we,” “us”) — accesses, uses, stores, and shares data, including data obtained through Google and YouTube. The App is used solely by us to publish our own podcast episodes to our own channels. We do not offer the App to the public and we do not process other people's accounts.

Use of YouTube API Services

The App uses YouTube API Services. By using the App, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can review and revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time through the Google security settings page at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.

What the App accesses

When authorized by our account owner through Google's standard OAuth consent screen, the App requests the narrowest permissions needed to do one thing: upload finished Lantern & Ledger video episodes to our own YouTube channel, and set each upload's title, description, and required disclosures. Specifically, the App may access:

The App does not access viewers' personal data, does not read private messages, and does not access any account other than our own connected channel.

How the App uses data

Data accessed through Google/YouTube is used for a single purpose: publishing our own episodes to our own channel and attaching the correct metadata and synthetic-media (AI) disclosures required by the platform. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to publishing our own content.

How the App stores data

The App stores a scoped OAuth access/refresh token that lets it upload to the connected channel. This token is stored securely and is limited to the permissions granted. We do not store Google account passwords or financial credentials. Tokens are retained only as long as needed to operate the App and are deleted when access is revoked or on request.

How the App shares data

We do not sell, rent, or trade any Google/YouTube data. We do not share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or any third party, except where strictly required to deliver the content to the platform itself (for example, transmitting the video and its metadata to YouTube for publication) or where required by law. We do not collect sensitive categories of personal data.

Your control and data deletion

You remain in control of your data at all times. You may revoke the App's access instantly via https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, which immediately ends its ability to act on your account. You may also request that we delete any data associated with your authorization by emailing us at the address below; we will delete it within 30 days of the request. We do not retain data indefinitely.

Changes to this policy

We keep this policy current. If our data practices change, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
